This years winners are the NCAA's all-time winningest men's & women's basketball coaches, Pat Summitt and Mike Krzyzewski.

Chris took the honor in 1976.

Chrissie rejoins Italian sportswear company ELLESSE, as brand ambassador for "Chris Evert for Ellesse"

Everyone remembers Chrissie wearing Ellesse thoughout the 1980s. She is rejoining the famous sportwear company as a brand ambassador, where she will lend her input to the new "Chris Evert for Ellesse" line.

Family Circle Cup Doubles Exhibition! Evert, Navratilova, Mac & Martin - April 9

 

Chrissie agreed to participate in a mixed doubles exhibition match with Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe and Todd Martin during the Family Circle Cup on Saturday April 9 at 7:30pm.

Tickets for this special "Game, Set, Rock! Tennis Amplified" night of tennis will be available as a stand-alone ticketed session, on sale starting 10am on Feb 8th via Ticketmaster.com!

Chrissie signs up for US Open Qualifier Playoffs to help ESPN's Mike Greenberg live his tennis dream!

For the first time, the mixed-doubles portion of America's grand slam tennis event is open to public qualifiers though a system of regional "playoff" tournaments. So ESPN's Mike Greenberg asked Chrissie to help him make the official draw of the US Open.

"Have you seen me play doubles lately?" Chris laughed, while adding,"I am more than happy to help you fulfill your dream."

Chris Evert Charities Raises another $700,000 in the 21st Annual Chris Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic!

IInching ever-closer to the $20 million dollar mark of monies raised for Chrissie's charity to help ensure a bright future for at-risk children and their families, fighting drug addiciton in South Florida, this year's event brought in another $700k. Great tennis and a Gala dance party performance by Kool & the Gang were part of the weekend action.

Chrissie inducted into the Rogers Cup Hall of Fame!

Back when Chris Evert played the warm-up tournament to the US Open, it was called the Canadian Open. Now known as the Rogers Cup, Chris was inducted into the tournament's Hall of Fame as a 4-time winner and 6-time finalist.

At the ceremony, Chris said, "What’s special about this tournament is that my dad won the Canadian Open, so it has always been kind of a family affair ... He had great experiences here, too. Canada has always had some of the best and most knowledgeable crowds, the best stadiums – whether it’s been here in Montreal or Toronto, they are beautiful – and the best hospitality. It’s a very popular tournament for the players."

Hanah Storm and documentarians Lisa Lax and Nancy Stern Winters have created a monumental documentary for ESPN's '30 for 30' series on the rivalry of Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. The feature will air for the first time onTuesday September 14 at 11 pm on ESPN2.

TV ALERT: CHRISSIE SURPRISES BJK on 'Homecoming"!! AIRS JULY 3 at 7 pm on ESPN.

Chrissie surprised Billie Jean King in April, joining a live-tape broadcast of ESPN's "Homecoming" which is a 'This is your Life' format program for famous athletes.

Host Rick Reilly talked about who picked Riggs in the "Battle of the Sexes" and whether any of them apologized after she won. Then Chris (watching and listening to all of this from the studio) appears on the monitor in Long Beach and says, "I am sorry Billie." Immediately BJK says "I know that voice!"

Maria Sharapova, Tracy Austin, Zina Garrison, Jessica Mendoza, Bud Collins, Lornie Kuhle, Original 9 members Rosie Casals and Val Zigenfuss, were some of the other people in the audience.

The BJK episode airs on ESPN Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 7pm EST. If you miss that, it will re-air on ESPN2 on Friday July 9, 2010 at 7:30pm EST.

MAY 13 - Chrissie was in New York on Thursday to promote the USTA’s National Tennis Month as the ‘unofficial start of the outdoor tennis season’ with a focus this year on Tennis Moms and the way they instill a love of the game. FLINK: CHRIS EVERT SHOULD HAVE COURT NAMED AFTER HER AT US OPEN

Steve Flink made a surprise suggestion during his awards ceremony in April, stating that the Louis Armstrong Stadium at the US Open should be re-named after Chris, as not only the winningest player in US Open tournament history, but as an American icon.

“Beach Bash” Raises Funds for Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital

 

On Saturday, March 20th, Chrissie served as honorary chair as the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina was transformed into a tropical paradise for the Pediatrix Medical Group Broward Health Foundation Beach Bash presented by Aramark Healthcare. More than 430 guests enjoyed an evening of dinner, dancing and beach-themed entertainment, along with silent and live auctions.

The 1981 Australian Open final where Martina beats Chris 7-5 in the 3rd set aired in a special broadcast on the Tennis Channel on Monday, January 11 at 7 pm & 10 pm.

The following evening, the 1982 Australian Open final where Chris avenges this loss, beating Martina 6-3 2-6 6-3, aired on the Tennis Channel on Tuesday, January 12 at 7 pm & 10 pm.

Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro Celebrity Tennis Charity weekend raised another $700,000!

Chrissie's star studded 20th anniversary charity tennis classic raised another $700,000 over the weekend, bringing Chris Evert Charities' total to $18.5 million.

The weekend was filled with tennis rallies, outrageous commentaries, fantastic auction packages, and an incredible evening cocktail party and gala. You can read the article at tennis week and join in the fun vicariously.
